Freedom

What has freedom got to do with war, you're asking?

How free are you to not get blown up if there's a war?

How free are you to leave and go home if you've been shipped off to war?

And what about the countries that instantly enroll you to protect the country once you hit a certain age?

And if your country loses the war?

Where are the benefits of war? Where is the interest of the people?

Welcome to the War Debate

Many of you would know of the Australian and New Zealand customs of Anzac day. These customs include the Anzac Biscuit.

Not long ago, my friends and I had a debate as to whether Anzac Day was becoming commercial or not. I vouched for yes. I based my argument on the biscuits.

The rebuttal: This money goes to charity
My counter-argument: A charity that supports war.

As you can see here the argument was slowly drifting off course and became far more entertaining with the question of should we support our troops? Because by purchasing the famous biscuits we support our troops and hence the war, are we supporting the death of thousands of innocent people?

Something we all came to a slight agreement to is that yes, it does support the war. The next question was whether the war was something we should support or not.
My side: Hell no
The other side: It saves our butts.

And of course, the group was divided almost perfectly.

We, or more to the point I, came up with the idea that war doesn't necessarily have to involve murder; if it were to be a game of intelligence, the better country definitely would win.

Also brought to question was why we support our troops after the murder they have committed yet jail people for assault. By setting war against another country are you not giving all your citizens the right to kill citizens of that country? Why only selected troops?
And, if an ordinary citizen were to go to the country in question and kill one of their citizens, would there be legal ramifications? Why?
When a troop comes home with blood on his hands should he not be thrown in jail?

Of course this list of questions can continue for years.

And so was spawned this blog.
To enlighten you and ask of you.
What do you think?
